Hello! Thanks for visiting this site.

I began this website in 2002 when I was a special education teacher in order to provide a variety of online activities for my students. I wanted to create activities where the user interface and rate of progress of the math problems would be appropriate to their learning interests and needs, and create opportunities to explore the various resources on the Internet.

The activities on this site were designed for a wide variety of purposes, from structured review to more open ended learning experiences. Teachers using this site should make changes as needed.

I appreciate any feedback or suggestions for making the learning activities more useful.

Tech Stuff

I have tried to make the activities accessible to a variety of computers and monitor resolutions, but it seems that the website works best using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.

This browser is standard on the Windows 2000 and XP operating systems. (I'm not sure about Windows ME.) For those using Windows 98, many of the activities will function with IE 5.5.

To determine your browser version:
1) Open your browser
2) Click on Help
3) Click on "About Internet Explorer" (see graphic below)

Browser Graphic

NOTE: Many of the website activities, including the Math Games, do not function with Mozilla's Firefox browser. Unfortunately, the Math Games do not work with Netscape browsers including version 7.0, Apple's Safari Browser, and the AOL browser. For those using America Online (AOL), you must use the Internet Explorer 6.0 browser. This can be accomplished by opening the IE browser concurrently while you are connected to AOL. The Coin Learning Games do not work with Internet Explorer 5.1 on Mac OS X.

The incompatabilities appear to be the result of the Active X and/or Macromedia Flash controls used in the web design software. Since the kids like the Flash animations for feeback, the Flash stuff must stay. I go around the browser incompatabilities by using the PC in my classroom and by scheduling times for my students to use the activities in the school PC labs.
