Directions In this exercise, the you will provide an analysis of a student’s oral reading transcript, identification of two significant patterns of errors, and description of an appropriate teaching strategy to thoughtfully address one of the identified patterns of errors. Characteristics: - A thorough analysis of two significant patterns of student errors in an oral reading. - Examples from the student’s transcript are detailed and strongly support the identified patterns of errors. - An appropriate teaching strategy to address one of the identified patterns of errors is described in-depth. - An explanation of how the strategy will promote the student’s reading development is detailed and sensible. The Haunted Apartment The second floor was so dark they had to wait for a flash of lightning to see. Terry’s heart was beating fast. With every crash of thunder, the building shook. On the top floor, the rain was leaking through a crack in the roof. “This is the apartment that faces the street. Come on!” said Jake. The door squeaked as Jake turned the handle. His face looked very strange in the lightning. “Well, let’s go in!” What they saw in the apartment stopped them in their tracks. Ghostly figures moved against the wall. A second later, everyone but Terry turned and ran. They had just reached the stairs when Terry called “That’s just a mirror!” Actual Reading The (Hunters) (a/aton) The silent floor was so dark they had to wait for a flash flash of lightning to see.
